Ethically hand-mined by Kacha Stones near Talley Abbey in West Wales (UK) in approximately 2006.

35mm ~ 1 3/8" ~ 17 grams

Gold on a milky mass (rough rock, not fully formed crystals) is available but rare. Gold in crystals like this is exceptionally rare. This Welsh crystal has 5 tiny nuggets and flakes. Despite their size, 3 of these are surprisingly visible. Use magnification and slowly turn in bright light to fully appreciate this rarest of all quartz inclusions.

Only 33 were ever mined, and some were submitted to a UK assay office for inspection by X-ray fluorescence to confirm the presence of gold. Proof provided on request.

Welsh gold has been especially prized as a jewellery metal for centuries. Its history dates back to the Celtic kingdoms, when nobles wore gold torques as a badge of rank and power. In an echo of that ancient tradition, the royal family wears wedding rings made only of Welsh gold.

"Gold symbolizes the purity of the spiritual aspect of "All That Is”. It is symbolic of spirituality and development in the realm of complete understanding. It emits an energy to prompt one to allow beauty to come forth from the inner being. It helps one to improve one's character via learning, lessening the trauma associated with the gain of knowledge. It assists one to activate, mobilise and actualise the intrinsic potential of the self.

"If one is fortunate enough to become an Earth-keeper for a quartz crystal containing gold, the uses are extensive. The properties of gold and the properties of quartz crystal are combined and produce "dynamite" results." Melody, Love is in the Earth.

Kacha Stones is the original ethically mined crystal shop, trading since 1996. Ethical sourcing is important not only for the environment and mining communities, but also for preserving the crystal's energy. Blasting a hole in the earth and collecting the remains does not produce the best crystals. I mined this myself with nothing more than a trowel.
