Birthstones
Birthstone jewellery, birthstones and specifically designed birthstone talismans can improve health, confidence, relationships, consciousness and finances. Something which has stood the test of time for over 5000 years should not be easily dismissed.
In Vedic, or sidereal astrology, the planets and all the stars in our universe represent certain energies. They are understood to emit magnetic and electrical fields. This has now been confirmed by modern science.
Each planet gives out its own cosmic colour, generating particular energy and influence that radiates throughout the cosmos. The transmission of these vibrations, accompanied by the energy-giving properties of heat, magnetism and electricity, have an influence on the life of every living creature. The location of the various planets during a person's birth can be mapped scientifically through an astrological horoscope to give a "blueprint" for every aspect of life. According to it, certain planets will be well positioned, some will be unfavourable and some will give mixed results.
By strengthening the most positive aspects of your chart with gemstones, which resonate with these planetary energies, we can diminish the bad results, amplify the good ones and extract the most favourable experiences from our mixed results. Talismans of this type have been used and recorded by almost every civilization that has ever been. Gemstones have always been precious and attributed magical" qualities.
Birthstones... Who decided which stone for each month?
On August 12, 1912, the American National Retail Jewellers Association decided on a new list of birthstones, adding to or changing many of the traditional stones to others which were more commercially viable. In 1938 the American Gem Society adopted this list (with the addition of citrine) for use by its members. In 1952 a variation of this list was approved by the American National Retail Jewellers Association, National Jewellers Association, and the American Gem Society.
Thus the official list of Western birthstones was established on the basis of maximizing profit and not esoteric science.
Month | Birthstone |
January | Garnet |
February | Amethyst |
March | Bloodstone |
April | Diamond |
May | Emerald |
June | Pearl / Moonstone |
July | Ruby |
August | Sardonyx / Peridot |
September | Sapphire |
October | Opal / Pink Tourmaline |
November | Topaz / Citrine |
December | Turquoise / Zircon |
To assign gemstones to the month one was born in, is not only whimsical but useless. Like prescribing medicine for a patient depending on the month he was born, without looking at the individual's condition. Of course, to the US jewellery dealers, it made perfect sense. They could cash in on the ancient belief in the power of gemstones without taking the trouble to know anything about the subject. Today the result can be seen. Labelling gems as beneficial for individuals born in a certain month, when there may be no benefit whatsoever, has understandably lead to a loss of faith in the actual science of astrological gemology. Because the energy of crystals certainly affects the human organism, it is wise to choose one based on ancient science and not the marketing strategies of the jewellery industry.
Astrology Quotes
Commentary - "Astronomical calculations of stellar influences upon a living being are not suppositions but are factual, as confirmed in Srimad Bhagavatam. Every living being is controlled by the laws of nature at every minute...As stated in the Bhagavad-Gita (3.9), every action of the body produces another reaction which is binding upon us... A man's destiny is therefore ascertained by the birthtime constellation of stars, and a factual horoscope is made by a learned astrologer." HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
"It's common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street brokers use astrology." Donald Regan
"Millionaires don't use astrology, billionaires do." J. P. Morgan
"That we can now think of no mechanism for astrology is relevant but unconvincing. No mechanism was known, for example, for continental drift when it was proposed by Wegener. Nevertheless, we see that Wegener was right, and those who objected on the grounds of unavailable mechanism were wrong." Carl Sagan
"Courteous Reader, Astrology is one of the most ancient Sciences, held in high esteem of old, by the Wise and the Great. Formerly, no Prince would make War or Peace, nor any General fight in Battle, in short, no important affair was undertaken without first consulting an Astrologer." Benjamin Franklin
