While meditating on how to relieve the world's troubles, tears of compassion fell from Lord Shiva's eyes. These tears sprouted into the sacred Rudraksha tree. For thousands of years, yogis and mystics have used these beads for japa (chanting mantras), meditation and protection.

"Five-faced Rudraksha is the form of Lord Kala-Agni Rudra (Siva). This Rudraksha delivers all liberation and fulfils all wishes." Siva Purana.

Wearing Rudrakshas can help improve energy levels and calm the mind. It is also said to improve intuition and aid meditation. However, their main use is for protection.
